1. Who we are and what this policy covers
International Ball TV Inc. ("IBTV", "we") is responsible for the personal information it collects through ibtv.io, internationalball.tv and related Services. This policy follows Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial laws, including Québec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25). Where we serve members in other countries, we also respect the privacy laws that apply to them, such as the EU and UK GDPR.
Our Privacy Officer is accountable for this policy and can be reached at team@internationalball.tv (subject: Privacy).
2. Information we collect
Information you give us:
- account details: name, username, email, password (stored only as a secure hash), date of birth or age group, membership type;
- profile and resume: sport, position or specialty, team or organization, measurements, statistics, achievements, certifications, status, availability, representation, headline and biography;
- media: photos, videos, highlight reels, resume files and interview recordings;
- messages and forms: contact, partnership, careers and booking requests;
- guardian details for members under 18.
Sensitive information, only if you choose to provide it and give separate express consent: health and fitness data (such as heart rate or GPS tracking), academic results (we store ranges, not transcripts) and citizenship or national-team eligibility (we store yes/no eligibility, never passport or identity documents).
Payment information: card payments are handled by Stripe, so IBTV never receives your full card number. For cryptocurrency payments we record the wallet address, amount and transaction ID; note that blockchain transactions are public by nature.
Technical information: device and browser type, pages visited, approximate location from your IP address, and cookies needed to keep you signed in and the site secure.
3. How we use it
- to create and run your account, profile, membership and Digital Sports Card;
- to verify information, display verification levels, and calculate ratings, rankings and profile strength;
- to process payments, prevent fraud and meet tax and accounting obligations;
- to connect members with opportunities, but only to the audiences you choose (see section 5);
- to respond to requests, provide support and send service messages;
- to send marketing messages, only with your consent and always with an unsubscribe option (Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation);
- to improve and secure the Services, using aggregated or de-identified data wherever possible.
4. Consent and your choices
We collect, use and share personal information with your consent, except where the law allows otherwise. For each type of profile information you choose who can see it: Public, Verified recruiters and partners, or Private.
You can withdraw consent or change these choices at any time in your account or by contacting us, subject to legal or contractual limits. Withdrawing consent may limit some features.
5. Members under 18
A parent or guardian consents for members under the age of majority, and must create or approve the account of members aged 12 and 13. Everything beyond the basic profile is optional.
We do not sell youth information, do not use it for behavioural advertising or targeting, do not share it with betting or gambling companies, and do not display direct contact details, exact locations or schedules. Recruitment and professional contact goes through IBTV, a guardian, coach, academy or authorized representative.
Guardians can review, correct or delete their child's information by contacting us.
6. Sharing
We do not sell personal information.
We share it only:
- with service providers who process it for us under contract and security obligations: hosting and storage (Amazon Web Services), payments (Stripe), login (Privy), email delivery, video and analytics providers;
- with recruiters, scouts, coaches, teams or partners only where you (or your guardian) have chosen to make that information visible to them;
- as aggregated, de-identified statistics, for example audience reports for sponsors, which do not identify any person;
- when required by law, to protect safety (especially of minors), or in connection with a merger or sale of IBTV, under equivalent protections.
7. Digital Sports Cards and blockchains
A Digital Sports Card may be recorded on a public blockchain. We never put personal information on a blockchain: the on-chain record contains only a card identifier, a cryptographic fingerprint and a link to the IBTV record. Your profile data stays in IBTV's systems, where you can correct or delete it. If you delete your profile, the link stops showing your information, although the anonymous on-chain record itself cannot be erased.
8. Where information is stored
IBTV and its providers store information in Canada and the United States, and providers may process it in other countries. Information stored outside Canada is subject to the laws of that country. We use contracts and safeguards so that it receives a comparable level of protection.
9. How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above: account data while your account is open; payment and tax records as long as tax law requires (generally six years in Canada); backups for a limited period. We then delete or de-identify it.
10. Security
We protect information with safeguards suited to its sensitivity, including encryption in transit, access limited to staff who need it, private storage for files, logging of administrative actions, and human approval for sensitive operations. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as the law requires.
11. Your rights
You can ask to access the personal information we hold about you, correct it, withdraw consent, or delete your account. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to data portability, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to ask that automated decisions about you be reviewed by a person. We respond within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca), the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec, or the privacy authority where you live.
12. Cookies
We use essential cookies and similar storage to keep you signed in and protect the site. If we add analytics or marketing cookies, we will ask for consent where required and let you change your choice.
13. Changes and contact
We will post any update to this policy with its effective date and notify members of material changes. Questions or requests: Privacy Officer, International Ball TV Inc., Toronto, Ontario, Canada, team@internationalball.tv.
